In a recent article by Forbes contributor Laura Begley Bloom, the global perspective takes center stage as expats rank the world's 20 best cities to live in. Join us on a journey through the eyes of those who have experienced these cities firsthand, shedding light on what makes these destinations stand out.
This year has been such a success for Spain, holding the world’s best city to live: Málaga. Conveniently located in the Andalusian Costa del Sol, this city embraces deep historic roots, an international art and culture scene and of course pleasant climate and gastronomy. Moreover, local friendliness has been highlighted by most of the InterNations more than 12,000 surveyed expats worldwide, representing 177 nationalities and living in 181 countries or territories. A well valued life-work balance, safety and affordable public transport are also key points that makes Málaga the most outstanding city.
Spain was a big winner this year, with a total of five cities in the top 20. In fact, number 2 and number 3 are also Spanish, with Alicante and Valencia representing them respectively. According to InterNations, Málaga, Alicante and Valencia have several things in common—including ease of settling in, high quality of life and strong rankings for personal finance. “This translates into welcoming cultures that allow for an enjoyable and affordable life,” InterNations said in a statement.
All in all, the Mediterranean cities of the Spanish coast have gained an excellent reputation, turning them into convenient destinations to both enjoy holidays and settle down.
