Mar Menor muds have a high percentage of fine and very fine sands (muds and clays), a high composition of cations, such as calcium and magnesium, or anions, such as chloride and sulphate, as well as basic pH. That is why they constitute a great remedy for many types of skin diseases. Besides, their high temperatures make them suitable as anti-inflammatories in case of rheumatism, arthritis, gout, rehabilitation after bone fracture. The salinity of the crystallising ponds is similar to that of the Dead Sea.
